Some words about Cigarettes

The word "Cigarette" has a French origin and it means "little cigar". Cigarettes have appeared for the first time in America, when American Indians were wrapping tobacco in straws, reeds and maize leafs.

Afterwards, they appeared in Europe and during approximately 250 years, cigarettes and pipes were unique ways to receive pleasure from tobacco.

In USA, the distribution of cigarettes forwarded the appearance of some new brands of “light” tobacco, for example "White Barley".

In 1880 appeared the first machine for production of cigarettes. During many years, cigarettes have overtaken cigars in sales volume. Soldiers, who didn’t have time to smoke cigars or pipes, had time to smoke a cigarette.

Approximate in that time, was founded the famous Fillip Morris Company, that sold manually rolled cigarettes.
In USA, cigarettes were generally created from wastes of manufacturing other tobacco products, especially from chewing tobacco.

This type of tobacco was very popular in west America in that time. British company "Phillip Morris" opened a representative in New-Work, which had the goal to actively market the cigarettes, including popular brand today “Marlboro”. Reynolds has launched Camel cigarettes on the market place.

In 20th years of our century, in the evolution of tobacco industry played a great role the distribution of cigarettes for women.

American Tobacco Company created the brand Lucky Strike to resist their competitors.
Similarly, they began advertising their cigarettes and have won over 38% of market place.
